Typically as the saying goes 'No one likes change' therefor you may find yourself at a cross roads per say in regards to how the site now looks and functions. Rest assured that over the following week we'll be making changes to the site to return some of the previous custom functionality from the prior version as not everything in the prior version was stock, we had some aftermarket parts on the site after all!Long story short, we have some buggies lined up to throw dirt all over this bad boy so stay tuned, bear with us, and be as patient as possible until we have time to run this vBulletin 4 Buggy through the dirt!!! Hi all,Completely new to building buggies, about to start building an ST4.Am a mechanical engineer by training so hoping that'll help and i'll be able to manage.I've been having some trouble sourcing the parts according to the parts list provided by badland buggy. The rack and pinion specified is no longer available at dans performance parts, any suggestions on what i should subsitute with? Also, the bearings specified have many variants, they plans dont say which exact ones to use, what should i do?All tips and guidance would be appreciated.Thanks.

The Bearings should all have an RS(Rubber Seal) on the end of the numbers. ZZ's have a metal seal which is OK for a shop environment, but they are only good at keeping dust and bigger particles out, not water, mud, etc. As far as the center axle bearings they are UCF 206-20. With 206 dictating the bearing housing size and bolt pattern, and the -20 dictacting the ID of the bearing i.e. 20 - 16ths of an inch or 1-1/4' ID. Check bearingsdirect.com for the RMS8-rs the others should be available at just about any local bearing distributor. #14-425150 is substituded for the #-0.
Dan's recently changed brands of 14' Rack & Pinions from EMPI to Latest Rage.14' Rack & Pinion also available at Sandparts.comUse RMS8-ZZ (sealed bearings) for the wheel hubsCan also be purchased from local bearing supplierHere's the rest of the bearings for ST4:Check in the ST4 plans under the page named 'ST4 Two Seat Desert Buggy - Parts List.pdf' for all this info including vendor part numbers, vendor websites, quantities, etc. Feel free to e-mail us at or call us anytime at 1-780-298-1098 if you have any specific questions.

Don't confuse Rorty buggy construction manuals with the backyard type buggy plans advertised in the motoring press and elsewhere on the net.The manuals combine very detailed step-by-step instructions as well as the highly detailed and dimensioned CAD drawings. The manuals and plans are in PDF format. Within the manuals, there are bookmarks to the various chapters and CAD drawings, and you can zoom in on areas of the drawings to see them in greater detail. The manuals and plans can also be printed out so you can take the paper copies with you to the workshop.Have a look at the sample drawings above. The drawings show dual dimensions to suit everyone: The metric measurement is given priority and is followed with the decimal inch measurement in brackets. The construction manuals contain further colour illustrations throughout the text and there are full fastener, material and parts lists.' I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know I am very pleased with the manual.
